Dermatologists
Dermatology is the study of skin and diseases that pertain to it. The doctors who practice this speciality of medicine are called dermatologists. They can deal with more life threatening diseases, like cancer. And they deal with more cosmetic issues, such as cosmetic surgery. There are also many therapies that they can perform for patients. This can be something simple and minor, to more complex. Cosmetic injections and hair removal is a quick and easy procedure. Where as laser treatments can take a significant longer time to do and is more serious to the patient. People who are interested in studying dermatology need to realise that it will take several years to receive their degree and the right to practice dermatology. They can even have specialised training for specific procedures if they want to specialise in anything in particular.
With the growing popularity in cosmetic surgery, dermatologists have become leaders in this field. They can be trained to perform a limited number of procedures and they tend to keep them as minimally invasive as possible, as they are not certified for more complex procedures. This can range from performing laser surgery or injecting botox. Dermatologists also deal with skin diseases, such as skin cancer. A procedure has been developed for the excision of skin cancer. Called Mohs surgery, after the doctor who developed this procedure, it uses a tissue sparing technique and has become very successful in the field of dermatology.
